Reviews & Editorial
In 1965, 33-year-old Zawinul - who had been playing as a sideman in alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley's band for four years was signed to Atlantic by producer Joel Dorn for his first solo album, Money In The Pocket. Featuring two key members of Adderley's then group - drummer Louis Hayes and bassist Sam Jones, this was the first of 3 LPs he recorded for the label, and the first step in a musical journey that would lead to Joe Zawinul becoming a true giant of jazz.
Liner notes by Charles Waring.
